Watching TV Together: LDR Style

The hardest part about a LDR is spending time together when you don't get to see each other all the time. Boyfriend and I have spent the majority of our relationship away from each other. It's hard. We've come up with a couple of ways to spend time together.

We will pick a show to watch together on Netflix and work our way through it together. We'll get on skype voice chat and watch them together. We work our way through the series together and only watch that show together so one doesn't get ahead of the other. We make time for this pretty much every single night.

We're currently working our way through Star Trek Voyager - one that I've never watched all the way through. Boyfriend is a big Trekkie and has gotten me to watch TNG from beginning to end. Something I really enjoy about watching shows together this way is that you realize how many episodes you haven't seen and you still get to experience them with your significant other. We will watch an episode and not have a ton of commentary throughout the episode but still, enough that you don't feel silly sitting on skype not saying anything. Then we talk for a bit afterwards and go to bed.

I've been sitting here trying to decide how to start this blog. It's something that has been on my mind for awhile now. I'm in a long distance relationship (LDR) and I know how hard it is but it's also something that I want to celebrate. I want to celebrate the love and happiness that I have. I know that perhaps this blog is just one more love story in a sea of love story blogs and that perhaps my love story isn't particularly spectacular, exciting, or extraordinary to anyone except me. That's okay.

This is my story. This is how I cope with my LDR. This is what we do to make the best of a bad situation. This is us working towards our goals. This is how I celebrate a relationship that I cherish. This is the story about the boy that changed my life when I least expected my life to change.
